American Legion hosting Pets for Vets fundraiser Saturday

American Legion Post 58 in Greencastle will hold a fundraising event on Saturday, Dec. 11 supporting Pets Healing Vets in Hamilton County.

A meal of pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, french fries and dessert for $8 will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. The bar will also be open.

The band 15th and Hulman will provide the evening’s entertainment from 7-11 p.m. Beforehand, an ugly Christmas sweater contest with cash prizes will be held.

Baskets donated for the event will also be raffled off. Tickets are $1 with all money going toward the cause.

The highlight of the evening will be a check presentation with representatives from the American Legion and Pets Healing Vets present.

Pets Healing Vets is a program of the Humane Society of Hamilton County that helps military veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries by pairing them with shelter dogs and cats.

The program is fully funded by the Humane Society and provided at no cost to qualified applicants.

As of Friday, the cause has raised about $1,800. The goal has been set for at least $2,500.
