City Police

One recent alcohol-related arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 1:48 a.m. Sunday, Ed S. Craig, 59, Greencastle was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Craig was taken into custody on Avenue C for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated -- refusal. Craig was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

• At 9:04 p.m. Saturday, Dakota Zoellner, 23, Bainbridge, was ticketed by Officer Angela Taylor.

Stopped at Veterans Memorial Highway and Tennessee Street, Zoellner was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:17 a.m. on Friday, Nathan R. Couch, 44, Greencastle, was pulling out of his driveway at 2874 E. S.R. 240 in a 2007 Toyota Camry.

Couch told Deputy Tanner Brown he looked both ways and did not see a vehicle approaching.

However, Chelsea A. Lady, 32, Greencastle, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2016 Honda Odyssey. She told Brown that Couch pulled out of his driveway and she could not avoid a collision.

Lady’s vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $25,000-$50,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to six incidents:

• At 4:31 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:37 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:52 p.m.

• At 2:50 a.m. on Friday, GFD received a direct call for a trash fire at 1019 S. College Ave. Firefighters arrived at 2:53 and extinguished the fire. GFD went back into service at 3:04 a.m.

• GFD went on three consecutive dispatches to Ascena Retail Group on Saturday for alarms:

— At 8:58 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:02 a.m. and found that a pull station was activated, but did not determine a cause for the alarm. GFD went back into service at 9:46 a.m.

— At 1:53 p.m., GFD was dispatched for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:58 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. GFD went back into service at 2:20 p.m.

— 3:55 p.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4 p.m. and the alarm was put into trouble mode. GFD went back into service at 4:23 p.m.

• At 11:04 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 1019 S. College Ave. for an unauthorized burn. Firefighters arrived at 11:07 and advised the homeowner of the city burn ordinance before the fire was extinguished. No return time was recorded with this dispatch.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists and had two disregards.
