Marie M. Murphy ‘Grannbunny’ Secrest

Marie M. Murphy “Grannbunny” Secrest, 81, was lifted home by angels to be with the Lord from her home on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1940 to Maurice and Florence “Dolly” Murphy of East Chicago.

Marie was mother of nine, “Grannbunny” of 17 and “great-Grannbunny” of 17 and was the oldest sister of five with numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie grew up in East Chicago where she attended Bishop Noll High School. She moved to Terre Haute to attended Indiana State University, started her family and worked as a registered nurse. She then moved to San Diego and finished raising her family, and worked as an registered nurse before retiring from Sharp Cabrillo in 2009. She then returned to Greencastle to live out her life with family.

Marie, a lifelong devout Catholic, attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in San Diego and was a former member of St. Ann and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic churches and the Secular Franciscan Order in Terre Haute.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; aunts; uncles; sister; brothers–in-law; daughter; and HB Ashley Laloux.

Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle with Father John Hollowell officiating.
