Alice Pauline Palmer

Alice Pauline Palmer, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021.

Born Dec. 18, 1935 in West Newton, she was the daughter of Paul H. and Ruby Lee (Mann) Palmer and was a graduate of Decatur Central High School.

Alice was a homemaker for 42 years, caring for her seven children, canning and freezing vegetables. She was the best cook around. She went to work for an industrial company in Fortville and later moved back to Plainfield and worked for Nice-Pak in Mooresville, retiring after 10 years.

She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. She loved reading, working puzzles and puzzle books, dancing, listening to country music, flowers and working in her flower garden.

Alice is survived by her children, Steve (Annette) Thompson of Mooresville, Roberta (Robert) Simpson of Arizona and Mary (Kent) Williams and Tina (Keith) Johnston, both of Greencastle; sister Betty Crawford; sister-in-law Alice Jane Palmer; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Michelle Selby and Melody Truesdale; son Randolph “Randy” Thompson; grandson Ricky Johnston; great-grandson Jonathan Strong; brother Gilbert Palmer; and sister Barbara Faust.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the New Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
