Preserving Nature

Monday, December 27, 2021
Bill (left) and Bob Wichmann receive the Ouabache Land Conservancy’s (OLC) 2020 Dr. Marion T. Jackson Conservationist of the Year Award during its annual celebration on Oct. 28. They received the award to honor their dedication to preserving a 212-acre tract of land in Putnam County. The future Wichmann Woods Nature Preserve near Morton contains about 132 acres of mixed hardwoods with deep ravines, limestone outcroppings, waterfalls, cliffs and scenic overlooks of an unnamed tributary flowing through it. Upon transfer of the property, OLC will begin to further protect and restore the nature preserve in perpetuity.

As a close neighbor to Fern Cliff for several years I appreciate what the Wichmann brothers have contributed to preserving the beauty in Putnam County...

    Thank you, gentlemen...
