Christmas tree pick-up within city limits set

Wednesday, December 29, 2021

The City of Greencastle’s Department of Public Works will pick up Christmas trees for recycling starting Monday, Jan. 10, through Friday, Jan. 21.

City residents are asked to place trees on the tree lawn next to the curb. For those who do not have a curb or sidewalk adjacent to their property, trees should be placed near the street, not in the street.

The city department will be following the trash routes in the collection effort. Each route will be run once during each week. Residents are asked to place trees out the day before their normal trash pick-up.

Trees should be free of lights, wires, decorations, stands and plastic bags. No plastic or artificial trees will be picked up. In the event of snow or ice, pick-up may be delayed while crews plow snow.

City and county residents can also recycle their trees at the Yard Waste Site at 2363 S. CR 250 West. The site will be open from Dec. 26 through Jan. 31 during normal business hours and on Saturdays.

Trees should be free of lights, wires, decorations, stands and plastic bags. No artificial trees can be accepted at the Yard Waste Site.
