Herschel J. Vermillion

Herschel J. Vermillion, 77, of Plainfield, passed away at home with his wife Betty and friend Keisha Cooper by his side.

He was born Jan. 3, 1944 to the late Oliver and Vera Jean (Campbell) Vermillion in Greencastle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany and Korea.

He retired from Lobdell Emery, Arvin Metor and Hostess Bakery. After retirement, he worked for Casino Party Planners.

Most of all, Herschel enjoyed helping his neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Sears; a stepdaughter, Lynn Ann Rudy of Avon; and four siblings, David and Sherry Vermillion of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Linda Kay and Stan Evans of Cadiz, Kentucky, Floyd B. Vermillion of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Lloyd C. and Gail Vermillion of Fontanet.

A memorial service will be at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 4 in the Plainfield Christian Church at 800 Dan Jones Rd., enter Door 2, where friends may call on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until noon at the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Plainfield Christian Church.
