Wednesday, January 5, 2022

In loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

James R. Burdge, age 76, of Greencastle, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 4, 2022.

He was born in Indianapolis on April 17, 1945 to the late Russell and Marjorie (Pennington) Burdge.

Jim, being a lifetime resident of Indiana, met his wife while students in the Avon schools. Jim married Judy (Dean) Burdge on July 24, 1965 and she survives.

After graduating high school and getting married, they purchased their property in Putnam County, where they farmed for several years while working full time at Link-Belt (from which he retired) and raising their five children.

Jim always cherished time with his family, and he especially enjoyed sharing outdoor activities. The annual Patoka trip and 4-H fairs became the highlights of his summers.

Jim was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church and served as a deacon in the church for several years.

In addition to his wife Judy, he is also survived by his children, Kimberly A. (Kent) Christian, Colleen J. Joyce, Jim R. (Lori) Burdge, Jason R. (Shannon) Burdge and Jeremie R. (Jessica) Burdge; grandchildren Brittany (Josh) Sanders, Kinser (Adriana) Franklin, Austin Burdge, Lane Franklin, Kameron Byers, Spencer (Madison) Byers, Grace Burdge, Avery Burdge, Byron Burdge, Brody Burdge, Amelia Burdge and Noah Burdge; great-grandchildren Landon Sanders, Mason Sanders, Ava Sanders, Elijah Franklin, Tinley Burdge, Aurora Franklin and Hudson Byers; sister Julia (Bruce) Clark; brother Jeff (Kim) Burdge; and brother-in-law John Daugherty.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Loretta Daugherty.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at Grace Baptist Church, 8246 S. State Rd. 75, Coatesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time of 1 p.m. at the church. Pastor Bert Bunner will be officiating.
