County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 4:05 p.m. Nathan J. Kemper, 22, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana.

Tuesday

• At 9:32 p.m. Trystien L. Boswell, 23, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting law enforcement.

• At 9:12 p.m. Roy W. Hodges, 45, Greencastle, was booked in for theft.

Monday

• At 10:38 a.m. Jaxon W. Duke, 21, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant for burglary.

Saturday

• At 5:48 a.m. Gus E. Anderson, 53, Indianapolis, was booked in on a Shelby County warrant and for false informing.

Friday, Dec. 31

• At 10:31 p.m. Ben M. Wilson, 28, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 3:09 a.m. Charles P. Hoeferle, 37, Ladoga, was taken into custody for trespassing and public intoxication.

• At 1:24 a.m. River A. Wright, 29, Spencer, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia and carrying a handgun without a license.

• At 12:38 a.m. Angel T. Bodenhamer, 40, Crawfordsville, was booked in on a Montgomery County warrant.

Thursday, Dec. 30

• At 11:56 p.m. Ryan L. Bowling, 38, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 10:55 p.m. Chelsea R. Gallagher, 30, Mooresville, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 8:33 p.m. Allen L. Kennedy, 58, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on two counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 7:04 p.m. Bradly W. Haskett, 37, Terre Haute, was booked in for domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years of age.

• At 7:01 p.m. Dane A. Archer, 40, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for aggravated battery and intimidation.

• At 5:58 p.m. Michael T. Stansel, 58, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy.

• At 3:34 p.m. Mika L. Hayes, 26, Mooresville, was housed at the jail for possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

• At 9:29 a.m. Dillenger S. Wilkinson, 21, Bowling Green, was booked in on a warrant.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Mark N. Dunn, 42, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Alec Pettit.

Taken into custody at a Howard Street residence, Dunn was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Putnam County warrant with an original charge of driving with an ACE of .15 or greater.

• At 12:21 a.m. Monday, Sigmund A. Croan, 29, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Seth Doty.

Croan was taken into custody at Robe-Ann Park for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 11:16 p.m. Sunday, Brittney A. Thacker, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at a Frazier Street residence, Thacker was housed at the jail on a Putnam County warrant for probation violation involving original charges of possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated several recent property-damage crashes.

• At 2:04 a.m. on Tuesday, Robyn A. White, 56, Rockville, was turning westbound onto U.S. 36 from U.S. 231 in a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

White told Deputy Josh Deal she was looking at something at Detro Trailers when her car left the road and hit a guardrail.

The vehicle was towed. Deal estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9 p.m. on Monday, Larry Haddon, 59, Reelsville, was westbound on County Road 100 South in a 2007 Ford Edge when he hit a deer.

Deputy Todd Hopkins, assisted at the scene by Deputy Robert Soilleux, estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 11:19 a.m. on Saturday, Andrew G. Gibson, 46, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 675 South approaching County Road 650 West in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler.

Gibson told Cpl. Brian Helmer he braked for the stop sign at 650 West but the road was wet and he could not get the vehicle to stop.

Jaina M. Gardner, 19, Greencastle, was northbound on 650 West in a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze when Gibson’s Jeep slid into the passenger side of her car.

Neither driver, nor Gibson’s passenger was injured. Gardner’s vehicle had to be towed.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9:50 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, Summer D. Burris, 19, Cloverdale, was backing up from a parked position at 7974 S. CR 825 East in a 2006 Pontiac G6 when she backed into a parked 2017 Ford Escape registered to Christina L. Roach, Greencastle.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 11:57 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, Huba Cai, 46, West Lafayette, was southbound on U.S. 231, approaching the address of 13830 North U.S. 231 in a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee when a dog ran into his path.

Cai could not avoid the collision and sustained front-end damage and a busted radiator. The vehicle had to be towed.

The dog’s owner, Holly Thomas, came to the scene and gave her information for insurance purposes.

Cpl. Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:13 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, Jerry W. Glass, 81, Fillmore, was westbound on County Road 150 North in a 2001 Ford F-250.

Glass told Deputy Robert Soilleux he met a large pickup truck coming the other way that hit his driver’s side mirror. The impact resulted in the mirror flying through the driver’s side window and hitting the front-seat passenger, 81-year-old Sandra Glass of Fillmore.

Sandra Glass had red marks and complained of pain but declined medical attention. She was encouraged to follow up with her family doctor.

Soilleux searched the area for a pickup truck with driver’s-side damage but could not find it.

Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, William B. Kukman, 28, Cloverdale, was westbound on County Road 1100 South, approaching Meridian Line Road in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when he hit a deer.

Deputy Soilleux estimated damage at less than $1,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents recently:

• At 11:09 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Delta Theta on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:12 and were advised by that the alarm was accidentally activated. GFD went back into service soon after.

• At 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:36 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:47 p.m.

•At 5:49 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 111 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:53 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:12 p.m.

• At 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Chiyoda Corp. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:31 and were advised that a chiller line had ruptured and produced steam. Chiyoda personnel reset the alarm. GFD went back into service at 6:45 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists and had two disregards.
