Sheriff’s Office

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 10:39 p.m. Jessica D. Kernstein, 30, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 12:23 p.m. Mary A. Watson, 62, Delphi, was booked in on a court order.

• At 11:41 a.m. Audrey R. Cordes, 46, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, La Conda J. Clodfelter, 65, Coatesville, was traveling on U.S. 36 when a deer ran into the passenger side front corner and passenger door of her 2016 GMC Yukon.

The impact caused the curtain airbags to deploy. Though Clodfelter was able to maneuver the vehicle to a safe location to park, the vehicle had to be towed. Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle fire departments responded to several recent incidents:

• At 2:58 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at 626 E. Seminary St. Firefighters arrived at 3:03 p.m. to find a dirty detector on the third floor as the culprit. The detector was blown out and the system reset. Units went back into service at 3:12 p.m.

• At 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters were called to two-vehicle car crash at Avenue B and Warren Drive. Upon arrival at 4:48 p.m., they removed debris while Putnam County EMS treated the patients. They were back in service at 5:02 p.m.

• At 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was called to a smoke alarm at Ascena Retail Group. Upon the arrival of firefighters at 11:53 p.m., they called for a box alarm due to smoke and flames in the building. Employees had been able to pull the dumpster away from the wall and the fire was extinguished with no damage to the structure. The fire was under control as of 12:04 a.m. and crews were back in service at 1:23 a.m.

• At 2:14 p.m. Friday, firefighters witnessed a car crash at Spring and Washington streets, stopping to tend to the patient and then perform fluid cleanup. Putnam County EMS transported the patient, and GFD left the scene at 2:43 p.m.

• At 7:15 a.m. Saturday, a GFD hazardous materials team was called for mutual aid with Bainbridge at the Casey’s station at 105 Pat Rady Way. They arrived at 7:46 a.m. About 50-60 gallons of gasoline had spilled, which the team contained and cleaned up. Firefighters were back in service at 9:55 a.m.

• At 12:26 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters were called to a single-vehicle crash with entrapment at U.S. 231 and County Road 25 South. Arriving at 12:31 p.m., GFD extricated the patient, with EMS then taking over patient care. They remained at the scene until 12:54 p.m. to clean up fluid and debris.

• At 8:26 p.m. Saturday, GFD responded to a report of a gas odor at Moore’s Bar, 17 S. Indiana St. Arriving at 8:29 p.m., firefighters found no gas odor and nothing on their gas detector, but a strong smell of paint fumes coming from the apartment above the bar. The room was vented and crews were back in service at 8:38 p.m.

• At 1:41 p.m. Sunday, crews were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Warren Drive and Veterans Highway. Arriving at 1:48 p.m., firefighters looked after the patient, who had apparently suffered some sort of medical issue, until the arrival of an ambulance. GFD left the scene at 2:07 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to 10 recent medical dispatches.
