Alice Brenda Linville, née Stout, 72, passed away at her home in Greencastle on Jan. 27, 2022.

Daughter of Alice and Ira Stout, she was born on Nov. 8, 1949, youngest of six siblings, into a tightly-knit family of dairy farmers and, while outgoing and making friends easily, she never lost her dedication to supporting and helping her immediate and extended family come rain or shine. Everyone in her family knew they could count on her when push came to shove, tending to the extended family’s graves and as the caretaker for her mother’s last decade of life.

Brenda worked as an EMT, and later clerk for the Bainbridge Co-op, often working long hours during the planting season. She was respected by co-workers and clients, alike and retired in 2012.

She was an avid gardener, buying if not always planting a home full of flowers and plants. She found success playing darts, winning leagues and tournaments. She found a love of genealogy in retirement, amassing a room full of family pictures and history. She enjoyed traveling with her brothers Junior and Gary to ancestral homesteads and reunions in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Brenda is survived by her husband Darrell Goldman, son Jason Linville (Maggie), brother Gary Stout (Jean), her oldest brother’s (Ira Jr.) wife Ruby Stout and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents and siblings, Ira Jr., Joan, Richard and Stanley.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service. Donations in Brenda’s honor may be made to the Autoimmune Hepatitis Association.
