Songs for Ukraine

Performing outside the full-band lineup of Black Market Vinyl, father and daughter Matt and Wednesday Rees harmonize Wednesday evening at Almost Home as part of the Songs for Ukraine benefit concert and dinner. The Reeses part of a lineup that also included local artists Parker Black (below), Derek Chastain and Bobbie Lancaster. Between proceeds from the taco bar, a raffle and donations, the event brought in $4,027.12 in proceeds benefiting Ukrainian refugees. “We are so thankful for the generosity on display during Wednesday night’s benefit concert, which raised money to support the basic needs of Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war,” said Chris Flegal of the United Way of Central Indiana. “This is a bit unique for United Way of Central Indiana, since the majority of our work is specific to helping people in or near poverty within our local community. However, this is an urgent crisis and we are positioned to help get these funds directly to our United Way affiliates working right at the Ukrainian borders.” The main sponsors for the event were Almost Home, Gobin United Methodist Church and Greencastle Presbyterian Church.
