Tiger Cubs top county teams at WIC Boys’ Track Meet; Cougars have dual double champs

BRAZIL – Northview won its second-straight boys’ track and field title Thursday night, the only team to surpass the 100-point mark with 136, 43.5 points ahead of second place Edgewood, which was 30 points clear of third-place West Vigo.

Greencastle finished fourth to lead the county schools, two points back of the Vikings and a point ahead of fifth-place Sullivan. North Putnam finished sixth on 51 points with Cloverdale 10th on 25 points and South Putnam 11th on 21.50 points.

Greencastle finished as runner-up in the 400-meter relay through Lamar Moore, Cole Hutcheson, Abram Nichols and Stuart Nichols in 44.51, the latter Nichols also finishing second in the 200-meter dash in 23.25.

Third-place finishes went to 1,600-meter relay team of Abram Nichols, Stuart Nichols, Hutcheson and Moore in 3L41.14, Brennan Brendle in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.08 and Moore in the 400-meter run in 43.63, fourth-place finishes went to Stuart Nichols in the 100-meter dash in 11.28 and Charlie Menzel in the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.56 and 3,200-meter run in 10:14.64.

Sixth-place finishes went to Hutcheson and Taygan McRoberts, both of whom cleared 5-06, and Andrew Adams, who cleared 9-00 in pole vault, along with a seventh-place finish for Abram Nichols in the long jump.

The Cougars had a pair of double champions in Nolan Hackleman and Gabe Garcia, the former winning the 400-meter dash in 52.40 and the long jump with a distance of 19-10.25 and the latter winning both hurdle events, the 110-meter hurdles in 15.47 and the 300-meter hurdles in 40.90.

Other place finishes for North Putnam included a fifth-place finish for Jeremiah Miles in the 1,600-meter run in 4:46.63, a sixth-place finish for Evan Polley in the long jump with a distance of 16-02, seventh-place finishes for Corie Stancombe in the 800-meter run in 2:12.02 and Miles in the 3,200-meter run in 10:41.79 and eight-place finishes for the 3,200-meter relay team of Matt McHargue, Neal Bryant, Mawvin Pfiffer and Josh Taylor in 10:17.27, the 400-meter relay team of Polley, Rodrigo Perez, Brayden Mandeville and Myles Bryan in 48.90 and McHargue ion the high jump, clearing 5-06.

Cloverdale’s top finish was the third-fourth place finish of Tayt Jackson and Tyson Bridges in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.74 and 43.03 respectively. The 1,600-meter relay of Jackson, Bridges, Jaxton Helton and Scottie McGuire finished fifth in 3:45.10.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Carson Hall, Jacob Miller, Matthew Miller and Dyaln Tiedeman finished sixth in 9:56.47. Bridges finished sixth and Jackson eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.91 and 17.32 respectively while Killian Dewey and Levi Johnson finished seventh and eighth in pole vault, both clearing 8-00.

Fisher Jones led South Putnam with a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 19-03.50 and a tie for fourth-place in the high jump, clearing 5.08. The 3,200-meter relay team of Keaton Chew, Evan Hinkle, Trevor Vanihel and Elijah Chandler finished fifth in 9:38.95.

Ben Teipen finished fifth and Parker Pelfrey seventh at discus with throws of 116-03 and 114-01.50 respectively. Cayden Witt added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 18-06 as did Eli Smith in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.18.
