A Greencastle youth was seriously injured in a recent incident involving a golf cart that occurred in the area of Edgelea and Windemere drives.

According to a report filed by Deputy Robert Soilleux, first responders were dispatched at about 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 for a golf cart crash with injuries near the intersection of Edgelea with Windemere.

Along with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Greencastle Fire Department and Putnam County EMS responded to the incident.

Soilleux reported that he found a golf cart parked sideways in the roadway with no visible damage and in working order. He observed that a youth was being treated by EMS personnel on arrival.

The driver, a nine-year-old, said he was driving the golf cart when a passenger grabbed the wheel and made him swerve, causing the injured youth, Wyatt Farrow, 12, to fall off the back. However, two other passengers said the driver was intentionally swerving when he made a sharp turn, thus ejecting Farrow.

Farrow suffered a serious head injury and was unconscious.

A landing zone was set up at the Putnam County Fairgrounds, and Farrow was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis by Ascension St. Vincent StatFlight.

The nature of Farrow’s condition or recovery otherwise is unknown as of publishing this article.
