Edna Lou Watson

Edna Lou Watson, 79, of Greencastle, formerly of Monmouth, Ill, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born March 25, 1943, in Lincoln, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph Lee and Virginia Belle (Bagwell) Griffis.

Lou worked in the lunch room at Tzounakis Intermediate School. She previously worked at Garfield Elementary School and babysat at the YMCA, both in Monmouth, and CRG Enterprises.

She was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church.

Lou loved to read her Bible and share the word of the Lord. She loved being with and taking care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Watson; her parents; and a brother, Bobby Griffis.

She is survived by her sons, Donnie (wife Jolene) Watson of Greencastle and Dan (wife Leann) Watson of Monmouth, Ill.; sister Jennie (husband Jerry) King of Indianapolis; brother Paul (wife Ann) of Ohio; aunt Pat (husband Tom) Clark of Bloomington, Ill.; grandchildren Brandon (wife Jess) Watson, Kyle (wife Nicole) Watson, Amanda (husband Joe) Downing, Brittany Watson and Amy Watson; and great-grandchildren Brylynn Watson, Gavin Watson, Jaxon Watson, Emma Watson, Ryleigh Downing and Ezekiel “Zeke” Downing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 at the New Hope Fellowship Church, 2450 N. U.S. 231, Greencastle. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, Ill. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lou to the New Hope Fellowship Church. Lou’s greatest hope was that everyone knew Jesus.
