County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 3:40 a.m. Matthew R. Lipscomb, 38, Greencastle, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 7:02 p.m. Christopher W. Nelson, 39, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

Friday

• At 10:17 a.m. Sydney R. Campbell, 19, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 4:44 a.m. Jason L. Harrington, 44, Cloverdale, was booked in for domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of a crime.

Thursday

• At 9:18 p.m. Tracy J. Schroeder, 61, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

• At 6:44 p.m. Robert D. Barger, 38, Fillmore, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 2:25 p.m. Balpreet O. Singh, 38, Bakersfield, Calif., was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 1:52 a.m. Donna L. Dwigans, 53, Cloverdale, was booked in on a warrant.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 2:33 a.m. Monday, Shaun A. Miles, 37, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Taken into custody at North Jackson and Elizabeth streets, Miles was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 9:29 p.m. Sunday, Misty L. Anderson, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody at a Sycamore Street apartment, Anderson was lodged at the jail for domestic battery in the presence of a child and battery.

• At 5:03 p.m. Saturday, Jerrett R. Travioli, 23, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at a North Locust Street apartment, Travioli was booked into the jail on two counts of invasion of privacy and a Vigo County warrant for contempt of court.

Five recent summonses were issued by city officers:

• At 12:22 a.m. Monday, Krishnan Srinivasan, 63, Oak Brook, Ill., was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at Bloomington and South streets, Srinivasan was cited for reckless driving and also given a ticket for speeding, 78 in a 30-mph zone.

• At 6:55 p.m. Sunday, Connor Eicks, 25, Greencastle, was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at West Walnut and Gillespie streets, Eicks was cited for being an operator never licensed.

• At 10:34 a.m. Friday, Leslie Hoffman, 39, Terre Haute, was cited by Officer Brown.

Stopped at North College Avenue and Moore Court, Hoffman was given a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and for possession of paraphernalia.

• At 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Jamon Jemison, 44, Noblesville, was cited by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at Bloomington Street and Primrose Lane, Jemison was given a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and was also cited for speeding, 47 mph in a 30-mph zone.

• At 8:15 p.m. Jan. 3, Tamara Mobley, 54, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at State Road 240 and Tennessee Street, Mobley was given a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and issued a citation for having an expired plate (Aug. 14, 2022).

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

• At 6:32 a.m. on Thursday, Robert Gambill, 56, Brazil, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2006 Ford Mustang when he hit a raccoon, damaging the undercarriage.

Deputy Josh Deal estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Whisty Malone, 58, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 725 East, approaching a small bridge in a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Malone told Deputy Todd Hopkins that another vehicle was approaching her as she crossed the bridge. The other vehicle crossed the centerline and sideswiped Malone’s vehicle, not stopping afterward.

Hopkins reported moderate damage to the driver’s side of Malone’s vehicle, including a missing mirror.

Malone did not have any identifying information about the other vehicle, as it was dark out.

Hopkins estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents since Friday evening:

• At 8:30 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:35 and were advised by DePauw Public Safety that a smoke detector was activated accidentally. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:42 p.m.

• At 3:08 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to The Waters of Greencastle for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:16 and determined the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:27 a.m.

• GFD responded to two consecutive alarms at Aldi Saturday morning:

— At 3:27 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:31 and could not detect it, though several detectors were activated. The issue was left to the keyholder, and GFD went back into service at 3:54 a.m.

— At 7:34 a.m., GFD was dispatched for another carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:42 and could not detect it. They were advised that the alarm system was having issues, and it was suggested that the alarm company be contacted. GFD went back into service at 7:54 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to three medical assists and had one disregard during this timeframe.
