County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 1:59 p.m. Robert E. Freeman, 64, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 10:42 a.m. Branda A. Dobson, 33, Brazil, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery.

• At 9:45 a.m. Robert P. Forsyth, 53, Greenwood, was taken into custody on a court order.

Tuesday

• At 10:13 p.m. Zachary L. Ruble, 28, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 8:22 p.m. Stacey L. Northington, 33, Greencastle, was booked in on a warrant.

• At 7:37 p.m. Jared A. Pentz, 33, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

• At 5:26 p.m. Jacqueb C. Taylor, 29, Reelsville, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 5:23 p.m. Mark E. Dunahoo, 59, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 2:01 p.m. Donna F. Dibiase, 41, Cloverdale, was booked in on a warrant.

• At 12:28 a.m. Joseph M. McIlwain, 30, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

Monday

• At 6:21 p.m. Jeffrey C. Cummings, 34, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a pair of warrants.

• At 4:28 p.m. Daniel E. Crickmore, 39, Freetown, was booked in on a warrant.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Steven Breeden, 68, Eminence, was eastbound on State Road 42 just east of County Road 550 East in a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he hit a deer.

Deputy Joshua Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Terry Tincher, 40, Greencastle, was northbound on South Jackson Street, Greencastle, in a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze when he hit a deer.

Deputy Clark estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Aleah Harris, 16, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 turning left onto County Road 1300 South in a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Harris told Deputy Clark she took the turn too wide and left the road, hitting the stop sign.

The vehicle had no visible damage and was able to be driven home. Harris declined medical attention.

Clark estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six incidents since Sunday evening:

• At 6:56 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Kissinger House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7 p.m. and did not determine a cause for the alarm, which was a smoke detector activation. They cleaned the detector and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into 7:02 p.m.

• At 1:46 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:51 and were advised by maintenance that they were working on broken sprinkler pipes. GFD went back into service at 1:56 p.m.

• At 4:18 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the indoor tennis and track center at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:21 and determined the alarm was due to a faulty water flow sensor. Maintenance was advised and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:33 p.m.

• At 7:35 p.m. on Monday, GFD was requested to stage with personnel at Putnam County EMS as the standoff in the Woods Edge subdivision was under way. Firefighters then moved to Ivy Tech Greencastle and were on standby until going back into service at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday morning.

• At 2:08 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Alpha Tau Omega at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:14 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:22 a.m.

• At 7:18 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a semi off the roadway at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Tennessee Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:21 and conducted traffic control until Curtis Wrecker arrived to retrieve the semi. GFD went back into service at 8:20 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to 10 medical assists in and around this timeframe.
