County Jail

One person was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 12:48 p.m. Billy L. Jones, 46, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six incidents since Thursday afternoon:

• At 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Delta Tau Delta at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:59 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:24 p.m.

• At 11:53 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Vernon E. Jordan Jr. Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:55 and did not find a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:04 a.m. Friday.

• At 7:22 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 1035 Castlebury Dr. for an unknown odor in an apartment. Firefighters arrived at 7:30 and found nothing after monitoring the apartment. GFD went back into service at 7:38 a.m.

• At 12:38 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched for a pole barn fire at 1864 E. CR 225 South. Firefighters arrived at 12:47 and found insulation smoldering inside a wall due to heat from a wood stove. A hole was cut in the side of the building and the insulation was doused. GFD went back into service at 1:50 p.m.

Volunteer fire crews were initially mobilized on a box alarm but disregarded.

• At 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Simpson House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:22 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:29 p.m.

• At 1:29 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with minor injuries at the intersection of Bloomington and Anderson streets. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:31 and assisted with traffic control. GFD went back into service at 2:21 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to seven medical assists and had two disregards during this timeframe.
