County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 2:55 a.m. Renee N. Minnick, 39, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for battery, theft and disorderly conduct.

Wednesday

• At 9:04 a.m. Elizabeth J. Parrish, 35, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Tuesday

• At 4:53 p.m. David J. Weber, 28, Jasonville, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, battery against public safety officer, counterfeiting, resisting law enforcement and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 1:27 p.m. Anthony J. Alamo, 35, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Sunday

• At 6:03 p.m. James J.A. Michael, 26, Brazil, was booked in on a Vigo County warrant.

Friday, Jan. 13

• At 3:06 p.m. Mark A. Rissler, 35, Brazil, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 2:56 p.m. Marcus W. McCombs, 36, Terre Haute, was booked in for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 2:25 p.m. Brittanie N. Kelley, 34, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

•At 2:20 p.m. Jessica A. (Bushong) Kenworthy, 38, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant.

City Police

Five recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 9:37 p.m. Tuesday, Jonathon S. Cox, 22, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Stopped at Bloomington and South streets, Cox was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for failure to appear in court on the original charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jamon L. Jemison, 44, Noblesville, was arrested by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Booked into the jail for theft and driving with a

suspended license, Jemison is alleged to have stolen five bottles of liquor from CVS at a total value of $148.95.

Jemison was also issued a citation from Officer Alec Pettit for a child restraint violation.

• At 9:13 p.m. Monday, Steven A. Trissel, 40, Green- castle, was arrested by Officer Helmer.

Taken into custody on the Kroger parking lot, Trissel was housed at the jail for dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 1:29 a.m. Sunday, Michael E. Allen, 64, Poland, was arrested by Sgt. Zach Rhine.

Taken into custody on South Jackson Street, Allen was lodged in the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and on an Arkansas warrant for parole violation.

• At 2:55 p.m. Saturday, Shaun A. Miles, 37, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Taken into custody at a North Madison Street residence, Miles is being held on a Putnam County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

Three summonses were issued recently by City Police officers:

• At 11:27 a.m. Wednesday, Isaiah Albright, 19, Cloverdale, was cited by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Stopped at Zinc Mill Road and Tennessee Street, Albright was given a summons into court for being an operator never licensed.

• At 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Leanna Boles, 31, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at Franklin Street and College Avenue, Boles was given a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 1:14 a.m. Saturday, Michael Dawson, 39, Indianapolis, was cited by Sgt. Rhine.

Stopped on Washington Street at Wood Street, Dawson was given a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Four additional citations were issued recently by city officers:

• At 10:43 p.m. Wednesday, Margaret Behr, 24, Lafayette, was ticketed by Officer McDaniel.

Stopped at Veterans Memorial Highway and Tennessee Street, Behr was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 8:23 a.m. Sunday, Rebecca Phillips, 29, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Bloomington Street near South Street, Phillips was cited for an expired license plate (Sept. 7, 2022).

• At 7:55 a.m. Saturday, Ashton Reynolds, 22, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer McDaniel.

Stopped at Bloomington and South streets, Reynolds was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 10:23 p.m. Jan. 12, Tiffany Leonard, 27, Spencer, was ticketed by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Leonard was cited for having a false or fictitious license plate.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Casey D. Buis, 26, Cloverdale, was southbound on County Road 500 East attempting to pull into traffic on U.S. 40 in a 2016 Dodge Dart. Shayla M. Presley, 30, Cloverdale, was westbound on U.S. 40, approaching the intersection in a 2017 Dodge Durango.

Presley told Deputy Kyle Lee that the other vehicle pulled into her lane of travel and she could not avoid a collision. A witness told a narrative consistent with this.

Buis told Lee she could not see due to a vehicle parked in the parking lot at U.S. 40 and 500 East.

Buis was trapped in her vehicle complaining of leg pain, and was later freed. Her backseat passenger also complained of pain to his right cheek and eye area. Both were transported to the hospital for medical observation.

Presley and two juvenile occupants were out of their vehicle, not complaining of pain.

Lee estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000. Both vehicles were towed.

• At 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, Derrick T. Price, 44, Cloverdale, was westbound on Robert Weist Avenue in a 2018 Dodge Ram when he hit a deer.

The vehicle had heavy front-end damage but could be driven from the scene. Deputy Joshua Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 4:23 a.m. on Saturday, Nancy Lechene, 47, Terre Haute, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents since Monday afternoon:

• At 2:41 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with injuries at 3063 U.S. 231. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 2:45 and assisted with patient care and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 3:20 p.m.

• At 12:16 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 400 Rockville Rd. for a potential gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 12:20 and monitored the property but found nothing. GFD went back into service at 12:32 p.m.

• At 2:41 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 11 N. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived soon after and determined the alarm was due to drywall dust. While the alarm system was reset, the property owner was advised that it was not dialing out correctly. GFD went back into service at 2:45 p.m.

• At 3:52 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to a DePauw University-owned apartment at 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:56 and deter- mined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:01 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to eight medical assists and had one disregard during this timeframe.
