County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 5:13 a.m. Kenneth Moore Jr., 55, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 3:15 a.m. Michael J. Thistlethwaite, 47, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 1:44 a.m. Kenneth W. Kirby, 48, Greencastle, was booked in for driving with an ACE of .08 or more.

Wednesday

• At 8:27 p.m. Brody A. Oakley, 37, Crawfordsville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated endangering a person.

• At 4:46 p.m. Ashley A. Eads, 40, Solsberry, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 4:38 a.m. Leif C. Parker, 29, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for intimidation.

Tuesday

• At 5:18 p.m. Justin E. Smith, 34, Indianapolis, was booked in on a Montgomery County warrant.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent crash.

• At 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Kathryn D. Blake, 63, Bloomingdale, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2016 Ford Fusion when she hit a deer.

Deputy Josh Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents since Tuesday afternoon:

• At 2:47 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the Putnam County Jail for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:53 and were advised that a water flow alarm was activated in a riser main. With no issues found, the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:15 p.m.

• At 8:54 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Putnam County Hospital for a vehicle fire in the north lot. Firefighters arrived at 8:57 and extinguished the fire. A cause for the fire was undetermined. GFD went back into service at 9:59 a.m.

• At 12:06 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Sparks Commercial Tire for an outside fire. Firefighters arrived at 12:12 to pallets on fire and emitting a large amount of smoke. Firefighters extinguished the fire and advised contacting about such burns in the future. GFD went back into service at 12:47 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to nine medical assists during this timeframe.
