County Jail

Fifteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 4:20 a.m. James G. Walls, 27, Martinsville, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 11:20 p.m. Sebastian L. Russell, 32, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 10:10 p.m. Diana S. Dickman, 65, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and public intoxication.

• At 5:49 p.m. Patricia L. Perry, 34, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 2:53 p.m. David A. Parks, 37, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for battery and disorderly conduct.

Tuesday

• At 3:24 p.m. Christopher L. Sutton, 46, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 1:20 p.m. Mason B. Henline, 26, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 8:54 a.m. Melvin L. Sosbe, 32, Bowling Green, was taken into custody on a child support warrant from Owen County.

• At 5:09 a.m. Geoffrey W. McClellan, 38, Brazil, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 11:37 p.m. Charity J. Weaver, 44, Poland, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 6:13 p.m. Jeffrey L. Enlow, 28, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

• At 2:24 p.m. Cole M. Williams, 27, Crawfordsville, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:59 a.m. Shawn R. Bussing, 35, Reelsville, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:59 a.m. Jerry T. Curtis, 56, Russellville, was booked in on a court order.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated on recent crash.

• At 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday, Caidon J. Cash, 18, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 in the area of County Road 300 East in a 2017 Nissan Maxima when he hit a deer.

Cash continued westbound to get out of traffic, but the vehicle ultimately had to be towed.

Deputy Josh Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to seven incidents since Tuesday afternoon:

• At 3:38 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:41 and determined that a construction worker accidentally activated a pull station. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:52 p.m.

• At 9:57 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Mason Hall at DePauw University for an elevator rescue. Firefighters arrived at 9:59 and used a rescue key to open the elevator. GFD went back into service at 10:06 p.m.

• At 10:24 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the DePauw dormitory at 418 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:28 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:34 p.m.

• At 7:02 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched for a structure fire at 508 Maple Ave. Firefighters arrived at 7:07 and were advised that a tarp near a cigarette butt container caught fire and extended to siding. The fire was put out with an extinguisher prior to their arrival. Firefighters checked for extensions and pulled the burned siding before going back into service at 7:31 p.m.

A box alarm was activated but disregarded.

• At 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:29 and determined the alarm was due to hair care product. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:33 p.m.

• At 9:43 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Alpha Tau Omega at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:46 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 9:57 p.m.

• At 12:58 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for an elevator rescue. Firefighters arrived at 1:03 p.m. and secured power to the elevator, after which the trapped persons used an attic ladder to escape. GFD advised that the elevator be checked out and went back into service at 1:31 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to six medical assists and had one disregard during this timeframe.
