County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 2:17 p.m. Magon J. Tabor, 32, Greencastle, was booked in on a pair of local warrants.

• At 1:53 p.m. Charles T. Bentley, 33, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for criminal mischief, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 1:48 p.m. Carmen V. Kemp, 31, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:52 a.m. Lydia E. Chubb, 63, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for disorderly conduct.

Tuesday

• At 3:52 p.m. Yener Pena-Machado, 41, Miami, was booked in for dealing a narcotic drug, dealing marijuana and possession of a narcotic drug.

• At 5:56 a.m. Robert M. Noble, 52, Greenwood, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 10 a.m. Jeremy L. Newgent, 46, Greencastle, was taken into custody for probation violation.

• At 9:14 a.m. Jason K. Bush, 46, Crawfordsville, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 9:44 p.m. Wednesday, Larry R. Cox, 76, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Taken into custody at Shadowlawn Avenue and Robinwood Place, Cox was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-refusal.

One recent summons was issued by city officers:

• At 11:39 a.m. Wednesday, Keven Harsson, 32, Brazil, was given a summons by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Stopped at Indianapolis Road and Calbert Way, Harrson was issued a summons into court on a charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents between Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon:

• At 3:17 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Alvord House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:20 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:25 p.m.

• At 4:22 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 2345 S. CR 250 West for a tree in the roadway. Firefighters found the tree at 4:22 and cut the tree and cleared debris. GFD went back into service at 4:39 p.m.

• At 1:59 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD received a direct call about a smoke detector that was malfunctioning at 73 Ridgeland Rd. Firefighters arrived at 2:07 a.m. and changed the batteries and tested the detector. GFD went back into service at 2:20 a.m.

• At 3:32 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was called to assist the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department with a brush fire near 2104 Sunset Ct. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:42 and assisted with extinguishing a fire on a hillside. GFD went back into service at 4:15 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for five medical assists during this timeframe.
