County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 2:34 a.m. David S. Branagin, 52, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

Saturday

• At 4:03 a.m. Mykel T. Withrow, 44, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 11:17 p.m. Brandon L. Hilliard, 47, Poland, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 11:15 p.m. Richard L. Miller, 73, Coatesville, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

Thursday

• At 8:13 p.m. Misty L. Anderson, 37, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 2:38 p.m. James W. Hamilton, 42, Avon, was housed at the jail for disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction and refusal to identify.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 10 incidents between Wednesday afternoon and Sunday evening:

• At 12:43 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Yuncker House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:46 and determined the alarm was due to a curling iron. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:48 a.m.

• At 5:27 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Mill Pond Health Campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:34 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset prior to their arrival. GFD went back into service at 5:37 a.m.

• At 5:54 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Cole Apartments for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 5:59 and determined that a stove knob was left on, thus allowing gas to leak. The stove was turned off and the apartment in question was ventilated. GFD went back into service at 6:11 p.m.

• At 4:02 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was called by Greencastle police for glass in the roadway at McClure Oil. Firefighters arrived at 4:04 and cleaned up the glass. GFD went back into service at 4:13 a.m.

• At 5:46 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Bishop Roberts Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:47 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 5:52 p.m.

• At 8:29 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to TapHouse Burgers for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:30 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset prior to their arrival. GFD went back into service at 8:33 p.m.

• At 7:54 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with injuries at the intersection of Indianapolis Road and Calbert Way. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 8 a.m. and assisted with patient care and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 8:37 a.m.

• At 10:54 a.m. on Sunday, GFD received a direct call for a hot smell at The Whisk. Firefighters arrived at 10:58 and did not find a source for the odor. GFD went back into service at 11:07 a.m.

• At 12:17 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Bishop Roberts Hall for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:20 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:27 p.m.

• At 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to assist the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department with a brush fire at 3525 S. CR 550 West. Firefighters arrived at 4:21 and were advised that the fire was a controlled burn. GFD went back into service at 4:47 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 17 medical assists during this timeframe.
