County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 3:27 p.m. James E. Bartlett, 52, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for battery with serious bodily injury and battery against a public safety official.

• At 8:40 a.m. David C. Franklin, 29, Ladoga, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 4:13 a.m. Misty S. Poole, 46, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 12:46 p.m. Gary W. Fishburn, 45, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 10:44 a.m. Jesse A. Hilbert, 21, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 6:20 p.m. March 28, city officers responded to the parking lot at the Dollar General store across the street from GPD at 507 N. Jackson St. after a 911 call reporting a disturbance.

Officer Justin Herd subsequently arrested Glenn Meloon, 49, Greencastle, for interfering with the reporting of a crime and intimidation. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

One recent citation was issued by city officers:

• At 10:50 p.m. March 29, Maosheng Zhang, 23, Hammond, was ticketed by Capt. Charles Inman.

Stopped on North Jackson Street, Zhang was cited for a learner’s permit violation.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one incident between Sunday evening and Thursday morning:

• At 4:41 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 355 Elizabeth St. for powerlines down. Firefighters arrived at 4:45 as a broken power pole was hanging over the roadway, while the top of it was also on fire. Duke Energy was notified, and GFD remained on scene until being back in service at 4:41 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 10 medical assists and had three disregards during this timeframe.
