County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:38 a.m. Angela M. Carter, 50, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction and on an out-of-county warrant.

Friday

• At 8:03 p.m. Harold D. Williams, 71, Roachdale, was booked in on three local warrants.

• At 10:18 a.m. Brandy N. Tomlin, 35, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 9:19 p.m. Devin A. Myers, 30, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and on a local warrant.

• At 3:07 p.m. Aaron J. Friend, 19, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for criminal confinement and domestic battery.

• At 12:52 p.m. Michael R. Strange, 46, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department reported six incidents between Thursday morning and Monday morning:

• At 3 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 908 S. Indiana St. for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 3:03 and found that the furnace was leaking. The homeowner advised that a repair company would be contacted. GFD went back into service at 3:25 p.m.

• At 3:59 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Autumn Glen for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:04 p.m. and were advised by staff that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset before their arrival. GFD went back into service at 4:06 p.m.

• At 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Montgomery Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:14 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:24 p.m.

• At 9:59 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 908 S. Indiana St. for an odor investigation. Firefighters arrived at 10:03 a.m. and were advised by the homeowner that they smelled gas again, though GFD was at the residence the day before. No source for the smell was located. GFD went back into service at 10:15 a.m.

• At 10:34 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to The Rain Smoke House for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:39 and found that the burglar alarm was activated, as the space did not have a fire alarm system. They could not reset the alarm, so the owner was advised to contact the alarm company. GFD went back into service at 10:47 p.m.

• At 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Kappa Kappa Gamma at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:35 and determined the alarm was due to a curling iron. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 9:41 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for eight medical assists and had two disregards during this timeframe.
