Sheriff’s Office

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 10:27 p.m. Shane R. Hill, 47, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated endangering a person and leaving the scene of an accident.

• At 4:22 p.m. Brittney A. Thacker, 38, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail on three local warrants.

• At 10:59 a.m. Eric J. Whitman, 32, Beech Grove, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 9:43 a.m. Dustin J. Havens Jr., 30, Van Buren, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 12:04 p.m. Lori L. Duncan, 53, Cloverdale, was booked in for intimidation.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 10:24 a.m. Wednesday, David R. Carson, 31, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at Robe-Ann Park, Carson was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Marion County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement.

• At 9:44 p.m. Monday, Jared L. Gilbert, 40, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Justin Herd.

Taken into custody at a Tacoma Drive residence, Gilbert was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for criminal trespass.

Five recent speeding citations were issued by city officers:

• At 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Rufus Gaston, 37, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Percy L. Julian Drive, Gaston was cited for speeding in a school zone at 41 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 2:44 p.m. Tuesday, Tiffany Trissel, 40, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped at South Jackson and Berry streets, Trissel was cited for 45 mph in a 30-mph zone.

• At 2:32 p.m. Tuesday, Christopher Mullins, 40, Rockville, was cited for speeding by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped on South Jackson Street, Mullins was ticketed for 34 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 11:42 a.m. Tuesday, Sandra Compton, 77, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped at Shadowlawn Avenue and Deer Field Drive, Compton was cited for 35 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, Tyler Benskin, 31, Clinton, was cited for speeding by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped at Shadowlawn Avenue and Deer Field Drive, Benskin was ticketed for 36 mph in a 20-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two incidents between Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon:

• At 2:33 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Ridpath Primary School for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:36 and were advised by administration that the school was conducting a fire drill. GFD went back into service at 2:40 p.m.

• At 11:59 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Bishop Roberts Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:02 p.m. and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset by DePauw Public Safety. GFD went back into service at 12:08 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for seven medical assists and had two disregards during this timeframe.
