County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 9:02 p.m. Richard D. Garske, 61, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 10:10 a.m. Bruce A. Sims, 62, Clayton, was booked in on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 1:35 p.m. Michael A. Ramirez, 28, Brazil, was lodged at the jail for probation violation and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 9:23 a.m. Teresa L. Lansing, 61, Poland, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

Monday

• At 11:02 p.m. Brittany C. Childs, 28, Franklin, was booked in for trafficking, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.

• At 6:28 p.m. Jeremiah H. Barker, 41, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 10 a.m. Tuesday, Anthony A. Hughes, 73, Freedom, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at the Speedway East gas station on Indianapolis Road for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a syringe and on a local warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of possession of marijuana, Hughes was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 3:07 p.m. Monday, Joshua J. Wright, 34, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Alec Pettit.

Taken into custody at Indiana and Franklin streets, Wright was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a local warrant for failure to appear in court on the original charge of battery.

One recent summons was issued by city officers:

• At 10:40 p.m. Monday, Charles Branham Jr., 28, Carbon, was given a summons into court by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Stopped at Washington and Durham streets, Branham was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Branham was also ticketed for having an expired license plate (expired 2022).

One additional citation was issued by city officers.

• At 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, Kristin Hufford, 32, Camby, was ticketed for speeding in a school zone.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue by Officer Brown, Hufford was cited for 40 mph in a 20-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents between Sunday evening and Wednesday evening:

• At 12:09 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the intersection of South Jackson Street and Sunset Drive for a downed or arching power line. Firefighters arrived in the area at 12:12 and did not locate the power line. GFD went back into service at 12:18 p.m.

• At 7:37 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Delta Theta at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:42 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 7:51 p.m.

• At 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 1011 Avenue D. GFD’s chief arrived at 3:18 to no fire. It was determined that burned food under a stove burner ignited and then went out. GFD went back into service at 3:45 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for eight medical assists during this timeframe.

Individuals listed in the blotter have been arrested on probable cause and have not been formally charged. Charging information may change after an initial arrest.
