County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 9:38 p.m. Joshua S. Stephens, 45, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 10:08 p.m. Jakob E. Ison, 28, Ladoga, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person, driving while intoxicated and possession of cocaine.

• At 9:42 p.m. Anthony S. Breeden, 52, Roachdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 11:11 a.m. John D. Collins III, 50, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 5:20 p.m. Jerry A. Harris II, 38, Poland, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 2:36 p.m. Misty M. Gilbert, 46, Brazil, was housed at the jail for theft.

• At 2:11 p.m. Michael L. Miller, 44, Poland, was booked in for probation violation.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 4:07 p.m. Sunday, Amanda G. Callahan, 33, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Taken into custody at the Speedway East gas station on Indianapolis Road, Callahan was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Johnson County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

One recent summons was issued by city officers:

• At 3:12 p.m. April 30, Ray Aker, 62, Reelsville, was given a summons by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Stopped at Tennessee and Bloomington streets, Aker was issued a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Seven recent citations were issued by city officers:

• At 1:06 p.m. April 30, James Meadows, 34, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Stopped in the Shadowlawn Avenue school zone, Meadows was cited for 38 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 12:29 p.m. April 30, Jonathan Trout, 27, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Hiatt.

Stopped in the Shadowlawn Avenue school zone, Trout was cited for 37 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 11:36 a.m. April 30, Anna Bowman, 85, Greencastle, was cited by Capt. Hiatt.

Stopped in the Shadowlawn Avenue school zone, Bowman was ticketed for 40 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 8:55 p.m. April 29, Timothy Sandou, 29, Brazil, was ticketed by Officer Angela Taylor.

Stopped at Veterans Memorial Highway and South Jackson Street, Sandou was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 5:24 p.m. April 26, Carter Pelfrey, 17, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped at South Jackson and Berry streets, Pelfrey was cited for 40 mph in a 30-mph zone.

• At 3:48 p.m. April 26, Clayton Zoellner, 21, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Herd.

Stopped at Shadowlawn Avenue and Arlington Street, Zoellner was ticketed for having an expire license plate (Dec. 21, 2023).

• At 2:40 p.m. April 26, Julianne Clendenen, 25, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Herd.

Stopped at Shadowlawn Avenue and Arlington Street, Clendenen was ticketed for speeding in a school zone, 30 mph in a 20-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five incidents between Thursday morning and Monday morning:

• At 4:09 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:13 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:18 p.m.

• At 4:32 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 613 E. Washington St. for outside burning. Firefighters arrived at 4:37 and found a fire in the backyard that contained unauthorized material. The resident was advised of the city burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 4:54 p.m.

• At 5:14 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:17 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 5:26 p.m.

• At 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Smoker Friendly Discount Tobacco for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:50 and, after no CO was detected, determined the activated alarm needed to be replaced. GFD went back into service at 1:57 p.m.

• At 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Silander House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:45 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:51 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 13 medical assists during this timeframe.
