National Night Out set Monday, July 29

Thursday, July 4, 2024

The 18th-annual Putnam County National Night Out for Safety is scheduled for Monday, July 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

This is the Monday following the Putnam County Fair. Note the change in time, as the event will run two hours instead of three. The evening is scheduled rain or shine.

Once again, the team has been meeting since February to put together another successful and exciting evening for children and families all across Putnam County.

All food, activities and backpacks and school supplies are donated by many local businesses and organizations. As attendees leave for the evening, there will be a food distribution for each family containing enough nonperishable food items for two healthy meals.

Thanks to more than 40 organizations across our county, there will be hot dogs, pizza, lemonade, apples, snow cones and so much more for each family to enjoy while they are visiting all the many fun activities and resources at the event. Backpacks and age-appropriate school supplies will be distributed as well.

This year the Coats for Kids program has been moved to the Community Connect event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26.

Organizers can share that there are some new activities and surprises lined up for the event. Anyone who has not attended in the past is invited for an evening of fun and excitement, before the children head back to school.

Anyone with questions or who would like to be involved in the event may contact Linda Merkel at or 765-720-5535
