Tools for School seeks participants, sponsors for 2024

Monday, July 8, 2024

It’s that time of year to begin thinking about children going back to school, and Tools for School already has more than 500 children signed up to receive a backpack with the supplies needed for their grade they are entering, and also a brand-new pair of shoes.

Organizers hope that every child in need feels good about starting school with the supplies they need. Last year, they served more than 700 students, and sign-ups remain open with forms still being received.

Tools for School works with and services all Putnam County schools.

“We have always had such a generous community that steps up and fills the backpacks and donates so that shoes can be purchased for the children,” Tools for School founder Ruth Myers said.

If anyone would like to make a donation, send it to Phil the Need, P.O. Box 251, Greencastle, IN, 46135, and write “Tools for School” in the memo line. Those with questions or who would like to volunteer or donate may contact

Phil the Need (Tools for School) wishes to thank the community for its support in this project.
