Commissioners move ahead on

Architects for the new Putnam County 911 Emergency Operations Center told Putnam County Commissioners that 130 yards of concrete and 6,000 pounds of reinforced steel (including the tower itself) will be used in the project. A start-up budget of $443,000 was approved by the board previously.

During the meeting, members accepted six Request for Proposals (RFP's) for tower construction. The RFP's will be taken under advisement and a recommendation will be given to the board at their next meeting on July 2.

Bids which were submitted earlier for sitework at the EOC's new location were accepted from Bell Excavation, Walker Construction and Stresscore. Bell Excavating will begin laying out grid work at the new site next week.

The board also voted to retain Tom Pitman and his associate from Baker and Daniel to provide financial options for the project. The three options discussed at the meeting were for a lease option, bond issue and a revenue backed bond.

The next meeting of the county council will be July 2 at 6 p.m. at the courthouse annex, 209 W. Liberty St., Greencastle.
