Shirley J. Hemmerling, 53, Brazil, died Thursday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Born in Parke County, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Braden) Batchelor.

She had worked as a certified nurse's assistant for more than 10 years, and had recently begun working at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation in Terre Haute. She had worked at several nursing homes in the Brazil and Greencastle areas.

She married Paul Hemmerling on Nov. 23, 1993. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert, William and Michael; stepson Brian; daughters, Melody, Renda and stepdaughter Paula; brothers John, Jerry, Henry and Mike; sisters Barbara, Joan and Jeanette; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Joey Lucas, brother Russell Batchelor, and sister Judy Weaver.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, with Bro. Doug Parkey officiating.

Visitation is noon-1 p.m. Saturday.
