Norma Jean Smith, 81, Ladoga died Thursday at the Lane House Nursing Center.

Born at Ladoga, she was the daughter of Oscar G. and Josephine (Haffley) Stewart.

She graduated from Ladoga High School and the Indiana University School of Nursing.

She was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles at Crawfordsville, and a former member of the Ladoga Tri-Kappa.

She retired as a nurse from R.R. Donnelley's, and also worked at Culver Hospital and Golden Manor Nursing Home. She also served as a nurse for the Ladoga community and also owned and operated McClellan Trucking in Ladoga for several years.

She married Lyle D. McClellan on Dec. 21, 1946 at Ladoga. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1970.

Survivors include a daughter Shelley Rhoads and husband Tom, Kingston, Ill.; one brother James Oscar Stewart and wife Mae, Penns Grove, N.J.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will take place at Ladoga Christian Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with Rev. Paul Leonard officiating.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Ladoga Public Library.
