Ben W. Smith, 82, Greencastle, died Sunday at The Waters of Greencastle.

Arrangements are pending at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Buddy Jones Sr., 69Linton, formerly of Greencastle, died Friday at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.

July 3, 1920-June 6, 2006

Virgil Sanders, 85, Indianapolis, died Tuesday at his residence.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Joe and Media Sanders.

He resided south of Manhattan, and moved in 1944 to Indianapolis where he worked at Kingan's meat plant and as a church maintenance man.

He married Virgie Ponster in 1944. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are a son, Carl Smith Jr.; daughter Alice Yeager; sisters Bessie Fellows, Loretta Wall and husband Herbert, Reelsville; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Anna McFarland, brothers Russell Earl Maynard and Arthur, and sister Barthena.

Services were conducted Saturday at Shirley Brothers Chapel, Indianapolis.

Sept. 19, 1936-June 8, 2006

Services were conducted Monday for Bonnie Engle, 69, Greencastle, who died Thursday at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Born in Ashland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harold T. and Donna (Clark) Maxhimer.

She was a storeroom clerk for the Greencastle Senior Center for four years and had previously been a receptionist for the Greencastle Street Dept. for 10 years.

She is survived by daughters Christine Saylor and husband Donald, Greencastle, and Robin Wilhite, Greenfield; sons Randy Engle, Ohio, and James Engle and wife Catherine, Russellville; brother Thomas Maxhimer, Ohio; sister Dorothea Ephilin, Florida; special care giver Montica Pingleton; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. at Clinton Falls Cemetery. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time at Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle.
