James Arthur Parham, 89, Veedersburg, died Monday night at Hickory Creek at Crawfordsville.

Born at Koszta, Iowa, he was the son of Thomas P. and Edna L. (Haskins) Parham.

A graduate of Marengo High School in Iowa, he attended the University of Colorado. He graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis, and owned Parham Home Appliance and Parham Funeral Home for many years.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was assigned to the U.S. Signal Corps, serving in the South Pacific, Philippines and Japan.

He married Eleanor V. McDermond on Sept. 30, 1940 at Marion. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Janice Hazlett and husband John, Russellville; two sons, Stephen Parham and wife Diane, Robinson, Ill., and Thomas Parham and wife Elizabeth, Roscoe, Ill.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with Revs. Rick Williams and Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
