Mary Louise Phillips Raines, 71, Elkins, W. Va., died Sunday in the Davis Memorial Hospital, West Virginia.

Born at Gage, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Russell and Reta Margaret (Broschart) Phillips.

A graduate of Coalton High School in West Virginia, she was an office employee of the Kelly Foundry prior to retirement. She was a member of the Phillips Chapel Church and served as treasurer of the church. She owned and operated Hilltop Handicrafts and Mary's Enterprises as well.

She married Robert Dale Raines on July 5, 1968. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Timothy W. Coberly and wife Gennette, Valley Bend, W. Va., and Edward Raines and wife Karen, Olmstead, Ohio; four brothers, Donald G. Phillips and wife Ruth, Russell N. Phillips and wife Mary, Roy J. Phillips, and Charles A. Phillips, all of Jimtown, W. Va.; three sisters, Dorothy Eubank and husband Gene, Greencastle, Loretta Arnold and husband Virgil, Fillmore, and Wilda "Sis" Rosier and husband Denver, Elkins, W. Va.; two sisters-in-law, Rennie Phillips, Belington, W. Va., and Betty Thompson and husband Herbert, Glady, W. Va.; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, James W. Phillips and Francis L. Phillips.

Services took place on July 26 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home, Elkins, W. Va., with the Rev. Leon Hevener and Rev. Walter Blough officiating. Burial followed at Phillips Cemetery, Jimtown, W. Va.
