William A. "Bill" Terry, 71, Avon, died Sunday at his residence.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Kenneth and Zella (Buis) Terry.

He graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1952.

He clerked for the F.B.I. in Indianapolis for two years before going into the banking business. He worked for several banks in Hendricks County for more than 30 years, and was senior vice president for the First National Bank and Trust of Plainfield, and later served as executive vice president for the First National Bank of Danville.

He was a member and former deacon of Plainfield First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley A. (Lowe) Terry; son Jeff Terry and wife Nancy; daughter Jenny Conwell; sister Betty Sims and husband Bob; a granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
