Laura Catherine Crawley, 26, died Monday following a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Born in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Marian H. Miller and Richard T. Crawley.

She attended Indianapolis Public School 70, Shortridge Middle School, and Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. She graduated from John Carroll University in 2002.

Following graduation, she joined AmeriCorps, working with the Peace Learning Center. Until her illness, she worked for the Indiana University Medical Center as a research assistant at Larue Carter Hospital.

Survivors include her parents, grandmother Gwendolyn Crawley; stepfather Joseph G. Miller Jr.; sisters Amy Rees, Caroline (Rees) Mullin and husband Paul; stepbrother Jason T. Miller; half-sisters Susan Cronin and Courtenay Hayes; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Evan Crawley and Norbert and Carolyn Horn.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Shelton Auditorium at the Christian Theological Seminary, 1000 W. 42nd St., Indianapolis, with a reception immediately following. A mass will take place at a later date at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School.

Crown Hill Funeral Home, Indianapolis, is handling arrangements.
