Walter Treash, 86, Imlay City, Mich., died Aug. 18 after an extended illness.

Born in Pontiac, Ill., he was the son of George and Lou Ella (Neal) Treash.

He had grown up in the Brazil area, and moved to Michigan in 1944. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had been an auto mechanic and was owner of Winn and Walt's Service in Detroit. He was a member of VFW.

He married Helen Louise Cavano on Oct. 25, 1941 in Crown Point/Hammond. She died June 13, 1998.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Retka and husband Tony, Mt. Clemens; three sons, Gary Treash, and Ronald Treash and wife Josie, all of Macomb Township, Mich., and Louis Treash and wife Joyce, Brown City, Mich.; five brothers, Clarence Treash, Knightsville, and George, Robert, Kenneth and Mickey Treash, all of Brazil; four sisters, Mildred Stoltz and Mary Woll, both of Brazil, and Linda Phillips and Norma Johnson, both of Greencastle; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Herbert and Edward, and sisters Louise and Bertha.

Services and burial were conducted in Imlay City, Mich.
