Lloyd Henry Bumgardner, 58, Greencastle, died Sunday evening at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Shopville, Ky., he was the son of Joseph and Ida (Bullock) Bumgardner. He was a 1967 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He was a truck driver for National Express, he had previously worked at Oxford Automotive in tool and die. He was a racer car driver having raced streetstock at Putnamville Race Track for more than 35 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1592 and Eagles Lodge, both in Greencastle; past president of UAW local 1763; a former member of the Greencastle City Council; and served on the Fillmore Town Board.

He married Cheryl York on July 2, 1967 and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, David Bumgardner and wife Betty, Fillmore, Steve Bumgardner and wife Brianna, Fillmore, and Tony Bumgardner and wife Kristie, Greencastle; a sister, Linda Gregory and husband Jim, Greencastle; two brothers, Danny Bumgardner and wife Sandy, Greencastle, Willard Bumgardner and wife Thelma, Greencastle; seven grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and James Bumgardner.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Steve Blaydes officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home.
