Frederick A. Danforth Sr., 88, Reelsville, died Friday at Harborside Healthcare, Terre Haute.

Born in St. Andrews, he was the son of the late George and Luella (Raiford) Danforth. He married Esther M. (Moyd) Danforth on May 27, 1945, and she survives.

A 1939 graduate of Carmel High School, he attended DePauw University for two years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned Danforth Logging.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 2, Brazil.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Theresa Pickett and husband Jim, Peru, and Floreen McKinley and husband Greg, Washington; two sons, Frederick A. Danforth Jr. and wife Brenda, Pontotoc, Miss., and Bruce Danforth and wife Laura, Bloomingdale; two sisters, Alice Tevault and Rosie Deckard, both of Indianapolis; a brother, Dick Danforth and wife Carolyn, Indianapolis; two foster sisters, Margaret Hull and husband Hank, Carmel, and Joan Bremman, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Helen Richards and Anna Lou Manley, and brothers Carl and Tommy Danforth.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Fertig Cemetery, Poland, with Pastor Richard Hall officiating.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
