Playground in works at Dari-Licious

In preparation for its grand opening later this month, Dari-Licious is giving back to the community.

Giving back to the kids, actually.

On Monday, the business, which officially opened March 1, began laying the groundwork for a playground located just north of the building at 1215 S. Bloomington St., Greencastle.

Store owners Jim and Billie Crane said the playground could be ready by Thursday, weather permitting.

The playground will also feature a picnic area with approximately 16 picnic tables.

Franchiser Frank Rose was at the Greencastle location Tuesday. He said the accommodations being added to Dari-Licious are similar to those at the store in Crawfordsville.

"It will be like a little family vacation area," Rose said.

The area will be fenced in for children's safety, Rose said, and will be named "Turtle Park," after the businesses' Turtle Sundaes.

Billie Crane said the business has scheduled its grand opening for June 28-30. She said Dari-Licious will be giving away boys' and girls' bicycles at 9 p.m. on June 30.

Those interested in the bicycles will receive raffle tickets with any purchase at the store, but the bicycles will be given away to children that are at the grand opening.

Billie Crane added a clown will be at the grand opening and face painting will be available, among other items.

"It's going to be really, really great for the kids and families," she said.
