Shopping program a success
The Mental Health Association and the Fraternal Order of Police of Putnam County were able to help 26 Putnam County children get ready to go back to school through their collaborative efforts in the Shop With A Cop program.
The Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police raised money to support the Shop With A Cop program to help children with the purchase of school supplies and back to school clothing.
The Shop With A Cop program provides shoes, socks, underwear, and some outfits for the kids, as well as the school supplies that they will need for the coming school year.
This is all made possible by the generous support of local businesses and individuals whose contributions through the PCFOP make the program possible.
The Putnam County Police Officers and the Mental Health Association volunteers took the children shopping at 8 a.m. on Aug. 2 at the Greencastle Wal-Mart.
Children in need of this program are referred by school counselors and other social service agencies in the community.
