Flowers power Friendship Day

Monday, September 11, 2006

What better way to make a new friend and to appreciate existing friends than to share a dozen roses.

That is the goal of Friendship Day in Greencastle, as planned for Wednesday.

Anyone interested in participating can pick up roses at several different businesses and agencies in Greencastle. The roses will be given away one dozen at a time, and the request is that each citizen keep one and give away the remaining 11 to different people, to show friendship and love.

More than 4,000 roses can be picked up on Wednesday at Asbury Towers and Village Retirement Community, Eitel's Flowers and Gift Shop, the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Ivy Tech Community College and Old National Bank.

The roses are free, but the agencies will be accepting canned or dried food items or cash donations for the Putnam County Food Pantry.
