Friday, October 13, 2006

A head-on collision Thursday evening resulted in a chain reaction crash near the Washington-Madison township line.

Firefighters from Reelsville and Greencastle were dispatched to the accident at 4092 S. CR 325 West, near the intersection of Manhattan and Mt. Olive roads.

According to Reelsville firefighter John McPherson, a Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Debra Rode, Brazil, collided head-on with a Ford LX, driven by Rebecca Phillips of Greencastle.

A Lincoln Mark VIII driven by Tammy Snellenberger, Center Point, then struck the other two vehicles.

The cause of the initial accident was undetermined, McPherson said, adding that firefighters had to reroute traffic on Manhattan Road to clean up fluids.

Rode was initially transported to Putnam County Hospital for a possible fractured femur, and Phillips was transported to the hospital for general pain.
