Greencastle and South Putnam hit the court Thursday, with the Tiger Cubs defeating the Eagles in three games, 25-16, 25-10, 25-10.

"This is a great way to wrap up the conference season," Greencastle coach Trish Lowe said. "We finish 5-1 and guaranteed first place (in the conference)."

Leading the way, Megan Clodfelter and Kelsey Hennette had huge games. Clodfelter had 12 digs and 11 points, while Hennette had 12 digs, 16 points and 13 assists. While Clodfelter was 16-for-16 serving with four aces, Hennette almost set a school-record going 18-for-19 serving with seven aces.

"This was a nice night for our serving," Lowe said. "Kelsey Hennette had seven aces to bring her total to 65, close to breaking Josie Bode's 1996 school-record of 68."

Several other Tiger Cubs also had strong performances. Lauren Robertson had 10 digs and nine kills, while Alyssa Hile had 12 points, 12 assists and eight digs.

The Tiger Cubs are now 18-6 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

In junior varsity action Greencastle defeated South Putnam in three games, 12-25, 25-16, 15-9.

Carmen Cross and Savanna Provine led the Tiger Cubs defensively with 17 and nine digs, respectively.

Offensively, Greencastle's Brooke Lewis was 7-for-7 serving with nine points.

Greencastle host's Owen Valley Monday night at 6 p.m, while the Eagles host Cascade Tuesday at 6 p.m. South Putnam's individual statistics were unavailable at press time.

Clovers fall to Bruins

On senior night, the Cloverdale varsity volleyball squad fell to Tri-West Thursday in three games, 25-16, 26-24, 25-20.

"Tonight was our senior night and I know Emily (Puffer) and Samantha (Garrison) really wanted a win. Both played well, but we just didn't handle the Bruins front attack.

Leading the Clovers, Puffer had six points and three attacks. Amber Curtis had a solid night, contributing another seven points. Ashley Arnold added three blocks for the Clovers.

In junior varsity action, the Clovers defeated the Bruins in three games, 25-22, 14-25, 15-9.

Kristin McCammon had 16 digs, nine points and five kills in the match.

The Clovers are now 18-5 on the season.

Both the junior varsity and varsity squads hit the court Saturday at Southmont at 1 p.m.
