Tara Thornbug and Olivia Miller are the 2005 Co-Putnam County Players of the Year for their efforts in the 2005 volleyball season.

The award was voted on by the four Putnam County Volleyball Coaches. Each coach was asked to choose six players from the other three schools, along with four honorable mention selections to compose the 2005 All-Putnam County teams. Thornburg, a North Putnam senior, and Miller, a Greencastle sophomore, were the only two unanimous choices for the 2005 All-County team.

"Tara is an outstanding athlete, leader, motivater and person," North Putnam Coach Lacy Wooten said. "She worked extremely hard everyday at practice and games."

Miller led Greencastle to a county-best 20-7 overall record, including a 5-1 record in the West Central Conference. In just her sophomore season, Miller broke the single-season record for points scored, with 247, and tied the record for blocks with 247.

Other selections on the first team, include North Putnam junior Jayde Kosobud, South Putnam junior C.J. Searles, Greencastle sophomore Megan Clodfelter and Cloverdale junior Hannah Monnett.

Second team selections include North Putnam's Kala McKinney, Greencastle's Lauren Robertson, South Putnam's Liz Mink, Katelyn Hammond, Hannah Ames andCloverdale's Ashley Arnold.

First team

Tara Thornburg -- (NP) In conference play, Thornburg was 58-for-60 serving 96 percent. She had 87 assists in conference play, and was 198-for-204, setting 97 percent.

Olivia Miller -- (GS) In her sophomore season, Miller shined for Greencastle, leading the Tiger Cubs to a 20-7 overall record. Miller tied the single-season blocking record with 285 on the season, and broke the single-season scoring record with 247 points. Miller also led the Tiger Cubs in kills with 234 on the season, while hitting 387-for-420 of her serves on the season.

Jayde Kosobud -- (NP) In her junior season at North Putnam, Kosobud helped lead a Cougar team building for the future. In conference matches, Kosobud was 90-for-105 in attacks, while amassing a total of 28 kills in conference play.

C.J. Searles -- (SP) The lone Eagle on the All-County first team, Searles led South Putnam in blocks and kills this season. She compiled a total of 154 kills and 220 blocks on the season, while going 86-for-111 from the service line with 15 aces.

Megan Clodfelter -- (GHS) The second Tiger Cub to make the All-County squad, Clodfelter had a banner sophomore season for Greencastle. Among her accomplishments, Clodfelter had 557 digs on the season. She was also 370-for-403 serving for the Tiger Cubs.

Hannah Monnett -- (CHS) The lone Clover on the All-County squad, Monnett had a well-rounded junior season for Cloverdale. Monnett led the Clovers in digs, averaging 6.3 per match, was second in points, averaging 5.4 points per match, and third in serving with 209 serves on the season.

Second team

Kala McKinney -- (NP) In her senior season at North Putnam, McKinney served 89 percent in conference play. She also had 21 kills in those conference matches, while attacking at 86 percent.

Lauren Robertson -- (GHS) The Greencastle junior had a solid overall season for the Tiger Cubs. Robertson had 444 digs, 48 blocks and 225 kills on the season. Robertson also went 246-for-281 from the service line for the Tiger Cubs this year.

Liz Mink -- Mink was a contibutor in all facets of the Eagles' game this year, playing in all of South Putnam's matches. She was second in kills, fourth in total points and third in aces with 24, while going 159-for-179 from the service line.

Ashley Arnold (CHS) -- The Cloverdale junior dominated net-play for the Clovers this season. Arnold led the team in spikes, averaging 12.6 per match, while shooting 85 percent from the net.

Katelyn Hammond -- (SP) Hammond had a rock-solid season for the Eagles this year, leading South Putnam in total points, sets and service points. Hammond was 295-for-313 serving, had 350 sets and 182 total points on the season.

Hannah Ames -- (SP) The third Eagle to make the All-County second team, Ames was second in serving and total points for South Putnam. Ames was 209-for-229 from the service line and recorded 131 total points on the season.
