South Putnam High School conducted its annual Super Six Way wrestling meet Thursday.

Five schools, Turkey Run, Cloverdale, Danville, Fountain Central and Blue River Valley, joined the Eagles in the meet.

The Eagles finished the day with a record of 4-1, giving them the second-best record of the meet. Fountain Central won the meet with a 5-0 record while Cloverdale place third with a record of 3-2. Danville finished with the fourth-best record of 2-3 and BRV finished with a 0-5 record.

"We wrestled well," SPHS Coach Scott Miller said. "We had a little bit of a let down with Fountain Central, but it's an improvement where we wrestled in the county meet."

South Putnam had three of its wrestlers who were individual champions. Ethan Ames was the 130-pound champion of the day while Bo Jackson won the 140-pound class, for the second time in his career. Josh Sanders was the 171-pound champion of the day.

"It's real satisfying to see us wrestle this well with this tough stretch coming up," Miller said.

The Clovers walked out of the Super Six with two individual champions of their own. Zach Waycott walked away with the 103-pound title and Alex Gardiner went home with the 189-pound medal around his neck.

"I thought we wrestled well," CHS Coach Brian Siddons said. "The lack of weight classes hurt us, but we had a lot of great individual performances."
