Leona B. Kerstetter, 83, Massachusetts, formerly of Greencastle, died Saturday in West Yarmouth, Mass.

Born in Norwood, Mass., she was a graduate of Norwood High School and attended Virginia Intermont, Boston University and the New England Conservatory of Music.

In 1940, she married William E. Kerstetter, who would serve as president of Simpson College in Iowa and DePauw University from 1963-75, and chancellor from 1975-78. He died in 1996.

She was an active member of First Church of Christ, Sandwich, Mass., and a founding charter member and past president of P.E.o. Chapter AL, as well as a volunteer driver for housebound senior citizens.

Surviving are a daughter, Laura Lamson, London, England; son William Kerstetter Jr., and wife Valerie Cavanaugh, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and two grandsons.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of Christ, Sandwich, Mass.
