DePauw swim teams third at invitational

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The DePauw University swimming and diving teams competed at the Wabash Invitational Saturday with both the men's and women's teams finishing third.

The women finished with 436.5 points for third place. Wheaton won with 672.5 while Indianapolis was second with 576.

The Tigers managed to get a second-place finish from Katie Doogan in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.78 in addition to a second in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:17.12. Doogan also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.67. Maddison Hamil finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54:28 and was third in the 50-yard freestyle at 25:02 and the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.85.

Amanda Stier finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.88 while placing third in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:13.16.

For the men, the Tigers finished with 465.5 points, finishing third behind Wabash (516.5) and Indianapolis (509). Rob Alexander won the 50-yard freestyle with a time fo 21:59 and also finished second in the 100 freestyle (47.37) and the 100 butterfly (52.95). DePauw's 200-yard freestyle realy team of John Cook, Kyle Kerrigan, Greg Nowak and Alexander won with a time of 1:26.87.

The Tigers are back in action on Dec. 1-2 when they host the DePauw Invitational.
